Roper-Hall Eye Foundation
Patient Benefit/Wellbeing Grants
What is our Patient Benefit/Wellbeing Grant Scheme?
This exciting, new competitive funding scheme is to enable NHS staff to bring about impactful improvements in patient benefit and/or wellbeing. The scheme is designed to support discrete and defined pieces of work where the applicants have demonstrated:
-
A clear and convincing problem they wish to address
-
How their project will lead to improvement in patient benefit and/or wellbeing
-
What improvements or changes they expect to achieve for patients
-
Evidence of direct patient benefit and/or wellbeing within a relatively short timescale (months, not years).
Examples could include artwork, a hot drinks vending machine, mobile phone chargers, patient information screens, in fact anything that would be for patient benefit and/or wellbeing to improve the patient experience. We are unlikely to fund projects that would expect to be funded by the NHS Trust.
The normal expected maximum funding that can be requested per application is £5,000 and salary costs are not allowed. Further details can be found in our Application Form (see below).

Who can apply?
The principal applicant must be a substantive NHS employee or hold an honorary clinical academic contract at an Eye Unit in Birmingham for the duration of the award.
This scheme is open to ALL NHS staff, including medical and nursing staff, managerial/admin staff, optometrists, orthoptists, and all allied healthcare professionals.
